November 23. Istanbul, the hunt

Today was a fun day as we spent most of it on the chase for Dan's habit. This really is the best way to get to know the town and the most memorable one. We visited the Northern reaches of Beyoglu where a lot of expats live, then took a ferry to yet another neighborhood Kadikoy where more affluent Istanbul residents live, and combed the back streets of Istiklal.

Our travels also brought us to the Grand Bazaar and I am proud to say that we were able to find our way around and even find more interesting ways to navigate Sultanahmet area through bazaars.

We also visited Hagia Sophia today. My favorite site in Istanbul. Pictures do not do it justice (even with the rainbow). Just visit it :)

On the food front.. I've neglected to write about it. So far nothing to write home about. Just like Hawaii took Japanese to the next level, and continental US upgraded and extended pizza, so had Switzerland redefined and improved doner kebab. W checked out a few restaurants for other food choices and so far Georgia wins all around.

Today I've tried a local winter specialty - salep. It is a good match to this summer's mini snails. Should try my friend's meatball place recommendation tomorrow.

We did so much walking today. I crashed around 7pm. Tomorrow we are hitting some sites further away. Looking forward to it. Missing home.
