July 25. Battle with TomTom

Dan spent so much time trying to bring TomTom to its senses. In back prior years I had only good things to say about this GPS navigation system. This year, prior to coming here Dan installed the upgrade offered on the manufacturer site. And it killed it. Since then Dan had re-installed it, formatted, gone back a version. It restarts every minute and cannot find satellites. Very disappointed. Since we are planning to go to Spain and Gibraltar in a few weeks our only options would be to rent one (equivalent to buying 3/4s of it), buy one (overprised in Europe and will most likely lack US maps) buy Spanish and Gibraltarish sim cards with the data plan (may as well rent one), or downgrade to paper. Yak. Very disappointed, TomTom International!!!

On the positive side, on the way to our new favorite Martin Munoz square we stopped by at Ali Baba for some doner kebab. When we got the square I also got some salmon handrolls. Here they serve them with sliced chives and mini chilli peppers. So good! Isabella ate her French fries again but she also diversified with Doner meat. She gets through a lot of fruit and yogurt during the day and pretty much refuses anything else so any kind of protein is welcome.

Brown's staff is very familiar with us and we and other local regulars are starting to recognize each other. We are also comfortable nagivating 45 grade streets - but with all the carbs we consume there was no damage done to the weight.

  1. Well I see you two got the 2.0 version on Friday. Can you imagine explorers in the 1500's sailing the high seas and then at a sudden moment, they realize their GPS systems to reach the NEW WORLD is dysfunctional! They must go back otherwise the sea monsters will capture them!

They had a little compass and an inaccurate sketch of a map...! :)
