Day 12 – 13 – More stuff

Nothing overly interesting happened in the last 2 days. Georgia realized that she is being left in the kindergarten and cried while I was away. The staff is telling me that it is typical and that it will get better. They seem very pleasant and attentive so we will keep going. The good thing is that Georgia says “Yes” when asked if she wants to go back.

Yesterday we went to Alicia for dinner and met with Alik and his brother and wife. Got a very nice cake from the supermarket with red currants on top.

Every night is a bit of a mess when we get home. We have only a few disks with cartoons – most of the stuff that she watched over and over already. So while she is watching one of them, we load another one on YouTube – and sometimes it takes way too long. So we asked Danik for the link to and now we are all set. Yesterday we watched Ali Baba & 40 Razboinikov. A better way to do it is to get a hard drive that connects to the TV.

George, the director of the cleaning company called to tell me the prices of the weekly cleanings. He has the whole plan made up, where the firm will buy a bucket and chemicals and store them in our apartment free of charge & the same person who is familiar with the quirks of our apartment would be doing the cleaning. He forbids smoking and cell phones on the job. And his people don’t steal. Week 1: 350LT, week 2: 300LT, week 3: 280LT. So by the time it is time to lead in 10 weeks, we will be down to meagerly 168LT, or $84 for 2 bedroom apartment.

I’ve asked Audrone to refer someone else. Will see. So far I am not very encouraged about the service sector given that I have been laundering our linens and hanging them out to dry in the bathroom. Just spoke with the woman. It is 70-80LT to have a non-firm associated person to come and clean. $40 per week for apartment that is 1/3 of my house still does not sit too well. Will ask Alicia about the company on their list.

Went to the Russian book store near the railroad. Got 2 books and the alphabet. Had dinner at Czarda. Amazing decor and really great food. Nasty waitress.
