July 25. Riding Bikes to Richmond

Today was a pretty intense day catching up from being away for half of the week. Kids were having an equally intense time. Now that the school is out, the town had child activities every Thursday. Just about everywhere at any point of the day you can find something today - magicians, face painters, story tellers. Georgia, Isabella, and Irina went from one venue to another, waited patiently in lines of school children on the loose and their moms for their turn.

Kids got really awesome face paint designs. Isabella did not want to pose but here is Georgia.

Finally at 6pm we grabbed dinner. It was predominantly left overs from our Indian supermarket takeout on supermarket pizza. A bit of Portuguese fusion going on here :). And then we rode bikes to Richmond. Dan attached Isabella's bike to his and was pulling it. Georgia had to do her own pedaling and did an amazing job though she was really tired by the time we got there. We had ice-cream at one of the coffee shops along the river. That experience alone was one of the reasons we came here :). Absolutely awesome.

The ride back was a bit less so. We decided to take a shortcut and so took the street to get back. Just like one of my infamous runs, there was no turning back. Initially the sidewalk was was just a bit wider than the bike handles. There was road traffic on one side and stone fence on the other. Dan and Isabella were going first, then Georgia, and then I. As far as getting out of my comfort zone goes, that was it! But everyone did OK in the end. The kids are way braver than us. Isabella kept babbling the entire way. "Whoohoo, it's a hill!! Kruto!" 8 miles, baby!!

After kids' bath we went out again to find a good bar and beer. Ultimately came back to Browns downstairs. It is OK. Vilnius has much more diverse options in that regard. Decided that we need to continue the exploration. :)
