July 20th, Gangnam Style!

Hello, Darlings! I bet you can’t guess where we went today…

Today we woke up and quickly took the train over to the Gangnam area of the town, yes, like the music video.

When we got there, we were in desperate need of breakfast. In our beautiful area of Hongvik U., there are loads of coffee houses and bakeries. Somehow we assumed that Gangnam would have as many.

In desperation, we walked block and block, not finding anything other than dusty, boring office buildings. Somehow Mom thought the entire area would be cool and K-pop-like, with boy and girl bands standing by. And obvi plenty of coffee shops.

We finally found Jacob's coffee shop next two Paris Baguette went there. For the next 30 minutes, we could not even handle phone calls or Internet browsing and just drank our coffees and ate our pastries, and watched weird infomercials playing in the loop on a big screen in our little glass room.

Gannam was overall a little disappointing but nevertheless, we faced the heat and walked to a beautiful Buddhist monastery with a giant standing Buddha as a part of the complex. Several monks and people there were praying at the same time. It was very beautiful and impressive. There were multiple temples or chapels where monks were praying and you could hear sounds of praying and drumming happening everywhere.

After that, we headed to a shopping mall across the street. By the time we got there, we were all dying of heat, so we sat for a couple of minutes to cool off.

After that, we went to a huge library as a part of the mall that had giant multi-story bookcases. We also passed a hand statue that played Gangnam style. Geo and Mama could not resist stopping and posing. RL: Obvi!

Then came the case of lunch. we walked around the mall trying to find a decent restaurant. We finally sat down and the food was pretty good and came out fast.
It was mostly bibimbap for all. As we were leaving, the place was packed, so we felt extra satisfied to have started lunch at 11:15 :).

After lunch, Mama decided we just HAD to see some dumb bridge. It turned out to be too polluted to see anything, so we went to get some iced drinks and took the Metro home.

Overall it was hot but still interesting, I suppose?

When we got home, we did our usual work, and then Geo and I met Mama and Papa for dinner. We had fried chicken at Mom's. After that, we got thirty-two-centimeter soft-serve ice cream, parents go chocolate-covered cronut.

Geo and I bought face masks and did spa time at home. It was a relaxing and fun evening.

Happy 49th Anniversary to Grandma Luiza & Grandpa Zachary!
