July 25, Makeup Shopping in Seoul πŸ’…

Hello, Darlings! Does anyone know how to choose the best makeup? Well, I don’t know; please comment below!!!

Today was the day! The day!! We finally went shopping. We woke up today and took the metro to a makeup district. Papa went to do his own stuff and we went to look at makeup stores.

It's not what you think
We first went to Olive Youth, a mega store similar to Sephora, and looked around. There was a feeding frenzy of the buyers grabbing and buying. Many of the counters were empty, not refilled, and sold out. We ended up buying a couple things but overall spent way less than we would have spent in Sephora.

After that store, we went to a cafe to review our items and relax. I got a delicious lemonade but ended up mixing it with Mama’s grapefruitade so that my drink could be less sweet and hers less sour.

After the cafe, we went to Etudem, another make-up store. A grumpy lady followed us around. After Etude, we met up with Papa and took the metro home. (RL: It's fashionable here to wear pink or gold eyeshadow on the upper and/or lower lids and black eyeliners/mascara. We saw all sorts of shades of these colors in the makeup stores but none carried any other colors like blue and green).

At home, we went to get Bibimbab and gimbap and a small restaurant. It wasn’t incredible, but one of the better Korean restaurants we have had on the trip. We went home and worked till dinner.)

Geo and I got a sandwich for dinner and ate it in the park. Then we walked a mile around the park and went home.

Since the day was overtaken by shopping, I don’t have much to say.

RL: Dan and I walked around in the evening while kids kept an eye on our prime spots at Holly's Coffee above the "concert grounds." We're starting to see the same performers coming back to this place, and even some of the same spectators, particularly a guy in green with a video camera, watching the action from the prime location.

The performers barely get anything from the audience. We don't understand why they are here day after day. Building up stamina in the heat? Are they sponsored by the university? Are they hoping to score a record deal? I suppose it will be a mystery :)

Walking around was awesome. The surrounding streets are a maze of cute, seemingly endless shops and restaurants. There are crowds of fashionable young people everywhere in all shapes, sizes, and orientations. It's our favorite part of Seoul.
