Day 11 - July 7, 2019: Mom’s Last Day in Vilnius

Uggggghhh. Sunday. You would think that Mondays are the worst days of the week, but this Sunday was worst than all of them. This day was when we said goodbye to Mom, who was leaving to go back to the USA for three weeks. We woke up not too early, and around eightish. After having breakfast, dad, mom, Isabella, and I went to a cafe, where I tried to write my blog. When that didn’t exactly work out, we walked to the other side of the river Neris to see if the Museum of Technology was in working order.

Due to a construction project there, it was closed, so we decided to walk to a church that was near the river. It was really beautiful from the outside, but we didn’t come inside. Instead, we went to the mall next to it to see what was new. We found some new bakeries there, a place to definitely come back to. Afterwards, it was almost lunchtime, so we went to Wok to Walk. This is a place where you choose the ingredients and the employees make your stir fry for you using a special pan called a wok.

Soon, though, it was time for mom to leave. We drove her to the airport and waited for her to check in her bags. Then, she left for passport control and we had to leave as well. After that, we drove home and got in the car again to go to the Olshevskix summer house, where we hung out with Ilia, Gabrielus, and Misha. It was really funny sometimes because grandpa’s name is Misha and every time Dina, little Misha’s mom, told him to do something, my grandpa would look at her in a confused way.

It was really fun to play with the kids for a long time, roast Lithuanian marshmallows over the fire, and play tag. We also used one of the cool bikes they had, to ride down the hill next to their dacha. It was around seven when we left, but it was a day well spent. When we came home, it was around eightish. Grandpa and dad tried to drive the car into our courtyard in a different way, but it didn’t really work, and they were stuck trying to do that for fifteen minutes.

After finding we were all sort of hungry, we went home and ate a snack. Then, we wrote blogs. Correction - I wrote my blog and Isabella cried that she didn’t want to write her blog. Even though this day started out bitter sweet, it became better as it went on. And that’s how this day went down in history; July 7, 2019.
